Welcome to the official website of The Norwalk Professional Fire Fighters Association.
IAFF Local 830 represents over 130 line and staff personnel serving in such capacities as firefighters, fire officers, code enforcement personnel, fire investigators, apparatus maintenance technicians, and training officers. Local 830 members staff 5 firehouses in the historic City of Norwalk Connecticut and provide services to our citizens including fire suppression, EMS, technical rescue, hazardous materials expertise as well as maritime fire protection. On October 23rd, Local 830 Norwalk Fire Department held a promotional/ swearing-in ceremony.

Multiple NFD Local 830 members recognized for rescues during historic flooding

Congratulations to Local 830 Firefighters Lt. Jimmy Lyons, FF Pete Chila and FF Brian Filush (not pictured) on their recognition as Firefighters of the year.

NFD Firefighter Deployed to North Carolina for Hurricane Relief

NFD Local 830 Firefighter Pete Chila deployed with a group of 8 members from Norwalk Fire Department, Stratford Fire Department, Westport Fire Department and Westport Police Department to Hickory, North Carolina from October 4th to October 14th to set up communications where local radios and cell phones have been knocked out from Hurricane Helene. This past weekend, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Memorial ceremony, paid tribute to brave firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Attending this years solemn ceremony were the familes of our fallen members FF Craig Saris and DFM Luca Feola. Accompanying the familes as escorts and honor guard, were Captain Adam Sussman and Lt Rich Ryan.

NFD Firefighters Extinguish Building Fire on Fairview Ave

Local 830 City of Norwalk Fire Department members responded to a structure fire on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 08:38. The fire was located at #11 Fairview Ave in a 2.5 story wood-frame multifamily dwelling. Initial reports stated smoke was coming from the roof. NFD firefighters conduct training evolutions at Walk Bridge Project
NFD Local 830 , August 20
Engine Co. 2, Truck Co. 2, Rescue Co. 2 and Car 7 ( Deputy Chief of Training/ Safety) participated in a drill on Tuesday, August 20th with Michels Construction simulating the removal of an injured "patient" from the secant pit where drilling for the new Walk Bridge Project will soon be underway.

On Sunday, August 18th at 16:06hrs, the City of Norwalk FD was requested to assist the Towns of Monroe and Newtown with our High Water Rescue unit due to significant flash flooding.
Engine Co 3. and Car 7 (deputy chief of Training/Safety) responded with our High Water Rescue Unit and Zodiac boat.
