Responding on the original assignment was Engine Co. 2, Engine Co. 4, Truck Co. 2, Rescue Co. 2 and Car 2 (Shift Commander).

Upon arrival, NFD units located a floating, but 90% submerged vehicle that was rapidly sinking. Engine Co. 3 was requested to the scene with Marine Unit 238 and a Dive Team from the City of Stamford FD was requested to respond due to the nature of the incident.

NFD Local 830 Members entered the water and attached a line with a buoy marker moments before the vehicle disappeared under the surface to aid the SFD dive team with locating the vehicle.

Upon the arrival of Stamford FD Dive Team units, multiple divers were deployed into the water and one male occupant was removed from the vehicle.

NFD units remained on scene to assist the Norwalk Police Dive team and the tow operator with removing the vehicle.
An investigation conducted by the Norwalk Police Department concluded that this was an intentional act by the vehicles operator whom sadly was pronounced deceased on scene. The members of NFD Local 830 extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
