On Thursday May 16th, NFD Local 830 Firefighters provided mutual aid to the Town of New Canaan Firefighters Local 3224 at the scene of a house fire on Oak St. Engine Co. 1 from the Broad River Fire Station with 4 Norwalk Professional Firefighters and NFD Car 7 (Safety) responded to the scene. Upon arrival, NFD Engine Co. 1 was assigned to perform primary searches of the 6,000sq ft residence and assist with opening up and overhaul of the fire room. Due to the quick response of the 6 On-Duty New Canaan Career Firefighters that were later assisted by several New Canaan Volunteer FF’s, and 4 recalled off-duty NCFD firefighters with the assistance of NFD Local 830 Firefighters, Westport Local 1081 Firefighters and Wilton Firefighters Local 2233 the fire was contained to the room of origin. While E -1 was assisting New Canaan, a full assignment with E-4, E-2, E-3 (RIT), T-1, T-2, R-2, and C-2 (shift commander) were dispatched to a structural fire on Three Seasons Court. Normally, E-1 would be on that assignment as well. But, due to E-1 operating at another incident outside of the City limits. E-3 from East Norwalk and E-2 from the Central Fire station (HQ) responded over to the scene. A short time later multiple NFD companies were able to clear from the fire scene at Three Seasons Ct and along with E-5 from the South Norwalk fire station were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at Norwalk High School on County St which is also in E-4’s first due response area. *photo courtesy of the New Canaan Fire Co.
