Congratulations to Local 830 Firefighters Lt. Jimmy Lyons, FF Pete Chila and FF Brian Filush (not pictured) on their recognition as Firefighters of the year.

These members responded along with NFD FF John O’Neil and Deputy Chief Joseph Coppola to Old Station House Road to assist Monroe and Newtown firefighters with rescuing multiple occupants trapped in their house surrounded by raging swift water during the historic late summer flooding.

These members were able to rescue 3 occupants of the residence, 2 dogs and a cat that was surrounded by swift water. This historic flash flooding event, posed a unique and challenging rescue and it only took place due to our courageous and well trained members.

Through their extraordinary efforts, they were able to execute the evacuation and rescue.
Congratulations to all the honorees!!
