Station 1 is home to Engine Co. 1 and Truck Co. 1 also known as “The River Rats” and serves the areas of Norwalk that boarder the towns of New Canaan and Wilton.  NFD Station 1’s  first due response district is very diverse and is made up of residential neighborhoods, historical dwellings, mixed occupancies, multiple medical facilities, mercantile occupancies, multiple hotels and office/mixed use buildings along with multiple high density multi story apartment buildings. In addition, Station 1’s response area contains manufacturing facilities as well as the Route 7 connector and a large section of the Merritt Parkway and a Metro North commuter rail station. Engine Co. 1 and Truck Co. 1 frequently respond mutual aid to assist our neighbors in both the Town of Wilton and Town of New Canaan FD's.  NFD Station 1 was dedicated posthumously to Past Chief John Yost in 1998. Engine 1 is staffed with a Lieutenant and 3 fire fighters.  Truck 1 is staffed with a Captain and 3 firefighters.
