First Due Response District:
Year Built- 1970 Station 5 is located in the historic South Norwalk area of the city. Their response area is very densely populated and has a large number of wood balloon-frame single and multiple family occupancies and multiple large high density apartment complexes, Marinas, manufacturing and storage facilities, the SoNo ice house, Northeast Athletic Center, a Metro North Commuter Rail Station, and South Main St and MLK corridor are also within their first due. The streets are narrow, but, rich in history, tradition and heritage. Engine Co. 5 also responds to all EMS calls and motor vehicle accidents in the Rowayton section of Norwalk. NFD Local 830 firefighters from Station 2 and Station 5 also frequently provide mutual aid to the area of Norwalk covered by the Rowayton Volunteer Fire Dept.
