City of Norwalk Professional Firefighters responded to a house fire at 4 Camp Street on Monday, January 12th at 05:02, with a first alarm assignment of 3 Engine Companies, 2 Truck Companies, 1 Rescue Company, and Command and Safety personnel.
Engine Co. 4 arrived on scene and encountered smoke coming from both floors and the attic of a 2.5-story single-family house. Heavy fire was found in the finished basement with extension to the first floor living room. The fire was extinguished and brought under control in approximately 20 minutes.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. One cat was safely removed by firefighters. The occupants safely self-evacuated the house due to the presence of working smoke detectors. 4 adults and 2 children were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The incident is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshals Division.
