NFD Local 830 Firefighters rescue multiple people during historic flash flooding

On Sunday, August 18th at 16:06hrs, the City of Norwalk FD was requested to assist the Towns of Monroe and Newtown with our High Water Rescue unit due to significant flash flooding.
Engine Co 3. and Car 7 (deputy chief of Training/Safety) responded with our High Water Rescue Unit and Zodiac boat.
Upon arrival, Norwalk Professional Firefighters operated on Old Station House Road to assist Monroe and Newtown firefighters with occupants trapped in their house surrounded by raging swift water. NFD Local 830 firefighters with the assistance of other agencies were able rescue 3 occupants of the residence, 2 dogs and a cat that was surrounded by swift water. Due to this historic flash flooding event, this very unique and challenging rescue took place on the fly.
