NFD Firefighters Extinguish Building Fire on Fairview Ave

Local 830 City of Norwalk Fire Department members responded to a structure fire on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 08:38.
The fire was located at #11 Fairview Ave in a 2.5 story wood-frame multifamily dwelling. Initial reports stated smoke was coming from the roof.
Upon arrival, Car 2 (shift commander) encountered smoke and fire coming from the top floor in the rear of the building. Two (2) lines were stretched to the top floor while both primary searches and vertical ventilation were taking place. The fire was extinguished in under 30 minutes by a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engine companies, 2 Ladder companies, 1 Heavy Rescue company, a safety officer, and the shift commander totaling 26 Norwalk Professional Firefighters. The two remaining Engine Companies covered the City during this incident.
Currently, there are 7 occupants displaced by the fire. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
