At 18:06hrs on Thursday, March 6th. City of Norwalk Firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire on Allen Rd in the Cranbury section of the City.
Engine Co. 4 from the Westport Avenue Fire Station was the first to arrive on scene and encountered fire showing from a chimney that was spreading across the roofline.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the incident was placed under control in approximately 40 minutes by a first alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engine Companies, 2 Ladder Companies, a Heavy Rescue Company, Shift Commander, and safety officer with a total of 27 Norwalk Professional Firefighters.
No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshals Division. During this incident, the last two remaining NFD Engine Companies covered the City.
